Mummy MOT

The Mummy MOT ™ Post Partum Physiotherapy Assessment is a wonderful way to check how you are recovering postpartum. I think of delivery as a potential sport injury to the core, and pelvic floor muscles, which will require a graded rehabilitation plan to ensure you get back to doing all the activities you love to do, and can manage all the tasks a mum needs to do. It is for mums who are 6 weeks to 60 years + postpartum (it's never too late). 

The Mummy MOT ™  begins with a detailed consultation, where I listen to your postpartum concerns and goals, whether related to daily activities or your return to exercise. I will ask about your bladder and bowel function, how your pregnancy progressed and details on the delivery. I will also ask about any pain or discomfort you're currently experiencing. 

Following the discussion, I will assess your functional movements and examine your lower back, hips, and core muscles (and C-section scar if appropriate). Additionally, I offer an internal pelvic floor examination to evaluate pelvic floor muscle pain, strength, endurance, and tone. 

Using this comprehensive assessment, I create a tailored rehabilitation program to support your recovery, address specific concerns, and guide you through your postpartum journey. 

In addition, for runners, the tailored programme will be in line with the Postpartum Return to Running Guidelines as published by Emma Brockwell, Tom Goons & Grainne Donnelly.
